Growing up in rural Manitoba, Karl had all the time in the world to hone his skill amongst the biggest trees in the back 40. At the age of 4 Karl began his journey into the land of making stuff by using his father’s bandsaw —incident free. Ideas and building came naturally to him, but it took years of practice and dedication to develop the competence to be able to put tools back on the hooks where they belong.  He traveled around the world as a kid, with his vaudevillian father Al Simmons, creating props, stage managing, running sound and lights and meeting a world of creative geniuses.

Karl is a Red Seal Carpenter with 25 years of experience who also does computer things —CAD, Fusion 360, Adobe stuff, Blender, Motion Graphics, Photogrammetry… and whatever else comes along. He’s a filmmaker, projection mapper, graphic designer, drummer, figure skater and father.

He’s been dreaming with his eyes open since 1981.

What will he will do next? He’s waiting for you to ask him to tackle your project.
